COMMON CUSTOMER QUESTIONS

Yes, you can do this online or just give us a call. We will need a registration number to get the bike details and then we will confirm costs and timescales. Our booking process uses specific manufacturers service schedules, which allocates the correct time and parts to enable an accurate service cost. Our estimates are always inclusive of labour, parts and vat.
Service costs vary depending on which type of bike and which service the vehicle needs. Our service templates system allows us to give you the correct information on the right time and mileage intervals for the servicing on your specific bike. We service all models within the brands we are franchised for and can also do basic services on oher brands. Note - bikes are serviced on both time (annually) and at specific mileage intervals. The costs are generally different. So when the bike hits the next mileage interval, it has a bigger service than if it has simply got a year older and needs a base level service.
Yes providing it is one of the brands we are franchised for. In most cases we need to make a claim with the manufacturer first so it will normally take a few days before we can do the work. Contact the service team to make a booking. We will need the registration number to do this. Recalls are done at no cost to the owner.
Yamaha, Kawasaki and Peugeot have a 2-year warranty as standard from date of first registration. Kawasaki can be extended to 4 years at a cost, anytime in first 2 years. Yamaha can be extended to 3 years, if done within 30 days of purchase. Suzuki is 3 years as standard. On occasion the manufacturers extend warranty periods, but we can check this using your registration number.
We normally make bookings for bikes to be with us all day (08.30 till approx 17:00) We would always rather have a vehicle in for the day, in case we hit any unexpected issues. For smaller jobs, 1st services and MOT's we will try to agree either the morning session (9 till 1) or the afternoon session (1 till 5). We may also offer more specific drop off and collection times, but that will be confirmed at drop off and depends on the days workload. We can’t guarantee a completion time but we will do our very best. If your looking for a fast turnaround, may we suggest you book in for ‘1st new job of the day’ and we can agree a timescale based on what the job involves. If you would like to wait on site it’s no issue and we have a comfy waiting area and good coffee. Alternatively Hull City Centre is not far away.
All new bikes and scooters (other than Peugeot) have UK recovery cover from new. This is a minimum of 1 years cover*, but can be extended. If the bike does not have a recovery package, then we can arrange for a 5-Ways recovery or you may have your own cover with either your bank or insurer *NOTE - Yamaha have 2 years cover, but the 2nd year must be activated. The customer gets an activation code via email at the end of the first year with an option to extend.
No, we don’t work on these brands because we cannot get the parts or technical data that we would need. We do of course work on our own brands and also work on Piaggio, Vespa and Honda and Triumph bikes that are no longer under their warranty, although never for major servicing or diagnostics, as that’s best done at a dealer. Note, we will MOT chinese brands, but can’t always repair if they have failure items.
Manufacturers don’t supply paints/touch up pens anymore. These can be sourced at RS bike paints online. Any panel repair work can be carried out by a body shop such as Frasers Accident Repair in Anlaby, Hull. Unfortunately motorcycle manufacturers do not produce paint codes as per the car market, but normally a reputable body shop can match and supply paints to the correct colour. We often find a new panel (which comes painted) is cheaper than having one painted. Colour code = the colour the bike was made in that year, ie Kawasaki Lime Green Paint code = the code needed to mix paint to the exact colour. Motorcycle manufacturers don’t issues these.
All models made after 2000 that are fuel-injected should be fine to run on the new E10 fuel. If the bike was made prior to 2000, we recommend you use the GOV.uk website to check. If you have any concerns or experience issues using E10 fuel, we suggest you use E5 (ie premium unleaded) which should be available at most stations for the next 5-10 years.
If you have an immobiliser type key from new (factory standard fit), then you will need to order a key blank, get it cut yourself at a key smith, then book in workshops to have it programmed, cost to programme is ½ hours labour. We may need your master key if the bike has one, normally red key head. We cannot get keys cut to key numbers, but maybe you could at a key cutters ? If not an immobiliser type key, just use a key cutting company. If you need a blank, we can probably order one for you as a genuine part.
Yes. For full licence cat A licence holders, we have 2x 650cc bikes per day. You will need a driver's licence and NI number on the day so we can do an online check. The cost is £14.99 per day for fuel and insurance. We also have loan scooters which are available on request. T’s & C’s apply
Yes, if you give us the book at drop off. We will also update it on any bikes which we service at PDI or prep. If we can access the suppliers online records, we will also update the online register. NOTE Yamaha and Kawasaki no longer supply a physical book, they rely on online data.
Yes of course, but we may not have a new booking for quite some time. Give us a call or drop us a message.
Yes we can collect bikes and also re-deliver them. The cost starts at £80 within 8 miles and £1 per mile after the initial 8 miles. For long distance work we may use carefully selected sub-contracters. Is your bike still covered by the manufacturer recovery package ? This may mean you can get free recovery if the bike has broken down. Yamaha Assistance - Call 0330 159 0227 Kawasaki Assistance - Call 0330 159 0771, quoting KAWMC1 Suzuki Assistance - Call 0800 917 0656 *NOTE - Yamaha have 2 years cover, but the 2nd year must be activated. The customer gets an activation code via email at the end of the first year with an option to extend.
We carry out license specific restrictions (A2 licensing) and also derestrict these bikes too (once rider has obtained full license). This is usually carried out with manufacturer specific restriction kits. We don’t derestrict a bike outside of licensing legislation. We don’t derestrict 50cc scooters or bikes to make them exceed 30mph as this would be againstthe law irrespective of the licence held.
No, we fit them on new and used bikes that we sell, but we don’t make or sell them. You will need proof of ownership (V5C) and proof of ID (drivers licence) to purchase a number plate.

Yes, this is always ok, but please avoid it being no more than a couple of days. We don’t like bikes on site longer than necessary as we have limited space. Bikes need to be collected within 5 days of being completed. We send an Sms message and an emailed invoice once the vehicle is completed. NOTE - storage may be charged on vehicles left on site after completion without prior agreement.
This can be a little complicated, but no this would not immediately void your warranty. However, it may create an issue when making a claim. This depends on what the claim is for and the specific circumstances. Block exemption does not apply to motorcycles, so the terms of warranty state that vehicles must be serviced by an authorised dealer. More information on Motorcycle warranty and block exemption can be found online.
No, we don’t. Currently our insurance liability prevents this. We can only fit tyres that we have supplied and we need documented evidence of the supply chain. Balance is done on front wheels at fitment. Parts dept can help with prices and bookings.
Our team will always try hard to help with your enquiry, but detailed technical information can be very time consuming to find. If we can't help, we are not being awkward or unhelpful, but simply may not have the available time or man power. Company policy is to request that customers email support@5-ways.co.uk for more information on there enquiry and include a full chassis number and registration plate for all technical data enquiries.

Yes. We create an estimate (we call it a pro-forma) and then it saves to your account. We can also email you the estimate. Once your ready to order just give us a call with the SP number on the estimate or simply quote your name and postcode and we will process an order.
We register Datatool Tracker units at the point of sale with Datatool UK online. Once fitted and roadtested, it picks up a signal from Datatool HQ and you will recieve an email to say it’s ready to go and inviting you to subscribe so you can track your bike online.
Use the genuine EPC parts catalogues or Fowlers website to get a genuine part number and search via Deep Blue. Or try https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/ for the correct aftermarket fitment (FA???) and again search Deep Blue. We stock lost of EBC and some genuine. NOTE use EBC HH for all bikes over 600cc, front fitment.
We get a bulletin from the supplier to advise us of the recall. We then follow the recall process and create a template on the Deep Blue system, this allocates the correct information, time and parts (if required) to the work order. A claim is made with the supplier on their warranty system. With Yamaha, Kawasaki and Peugeot, this is done before the work. With Suzuki we order the part as a recall parts order, and the claim is done afterwards.

Fiveways Motorcycle Centre Ltd is an Appointed Representative of Automotive Compliance Ltd, who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA No 497010). Automotive Compliance Ltd’s permissions as a Principal Firm allows Fiveways Motorcycle Centre Ltd to act as a credit broker, not as a lender, for the introduction to a limited number of lenders and to act as an agent on behalf of the insurer for insurance distribution activities only.

We can introduce you to a selected panel of lenders, which includes manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent. An introduction to a lender does not amount to independent financial advice and we act as their agent for this introduction. Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked directly to the particular franchise you are purchasing your vehicle from, who are usually able to offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions. If they are unable to make you an offer of finance, we then seek to introduce you to whichever of the other lenders on our panel is able to make the next best offer of finance for you. Our aim is to secure the best deal you are eligible for from our panel of lenders. Lenders may pay a fixed commission to us for introducing you to them, calculated by reference to the vehicle model or amount you borrow. Different lenders may pay different commissions for such introductions, and manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement, all of which are set by the lender concerned. If you ask us what the amount of commission is, we will tell you in good time before the Finance agreement is executed. All finance applications are subject to status, terms and conditions apply, UK residents only, 18’s or over. Guarantees may be required.
