2012 Suzuki GSX-R1000 first ride:

The launch of the new Suzuki GSX-R1000 is currently underway at the Miami Speedway track in America. MCN Senior road tester Adam Child has just completed his first session on the bike and these are his thoughts:

"My first session went on for ages because no-one waved me in so I just kept going for 40 laps. The big differences to the bike are the midrange and the brakes.

"Though peak power and torque is unchanged, the bulge of midrange has been moved lower down the rev-range which makes riding it fast very, very easy. Coming out of slow corners - corners that would mean first gear on an S1000RR or ZX-10R - you just leave it in second and drive.

"The brakes on the old bike were a weak point on track but the new ones are really strong. I've had no fade, and there are some massive braking areas here.

"I'm riding on the road next - I'll let you know how it goes."
