Q: What happens if your bike is written off as a total loss through an accident, fire or theft ?

A: Your road insurance company pay you the used value of the motorcycle at the time of the claim and not the invoice value when you bought it.

IIf your motorcycle costing £6995 was written off after 12 months most insurance companies would pay out the current market value which might only be £5,250.

If you then wanted to replace your motorcycle then you woud have to find the difference. Or if you had taken out finance to spread the cost of paying for your motorcycle, then you could find that the amount you recieved from your insurance company was less than the amount you still owed on your finance agreement.

In either event, you could be be out of pocket - this is where Black Horse Gap Insurance can help you. Our "Retail Price Protection GAP" could return you to the original position you were in whne first purchased the motorycle for a period of 3 years from your original purchase date.
